Project acronym: DEHEMS
Project full title: DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT HOME ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Grant agreement number: 224609. The Digital Environmental Home Energy Management System (DEHEMS) project aims to improve the current monitoring approach to levels of energy being used by households, with an overall aim of reducing CO2 emissions across Europe.
Europe has stated a commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 20 per cent by 2020, with an option of increasing the target to 30 per cent if the US, India and China agree to the increase. The DEHEMS project aims to help Europe meet this target by supporting households to reduce their energy usage through better analysis and management of their energy consumption.
The DEHEMS project introduces a new framework which consists of a set of technologies such as effective Sensor and Actuator Network, Semantic Web, Service-Orientated Architecture and Intelligent Decision Making Systems. These technologies are designed to improve the current monitoring approach on the levels of energy being used by a household, towards energy ‘performance’ models that also to look at the way in which energy is used.
